Multi-Ethnic Cities Are Not New, but It's Newish
New York City had a certain kind of Beirut quality to it where, you know, white guys would talk about the blacks and the Puerto Ricans. And my point is, again, not to condone or dismiss racism, particularly hypocritical racism from very left-wing people. It's just simply that this is very normal and natural for urban politics. There's a huge difference between ethnic politics and identity and ethnic politics.
