The Importance of Religion in the Race for President

Pence is a particularly oleogenous example of somebody who wears his faith a little too publicly on his sleeve. I think he's going to be there to remind Republicans what they once believed, and I don't know how many Republican voters will appreciate the reminder or even whether they're the same people. The only real way that candidates who are down in the low single digits can pop is in a debate. There is no other modality.
