The Importance of Empowerment in Student Teacher Relationships

This aligns with Mira and Morel's 2011 notion of teachers as civic agents in a critical democracy. It is useful to consider schooling and adult student relations with an empowerment framework, which I'm sure is Marxist. This is consistent with our contention that SEL is best understood as civic development as the end. And skills by applying them to identification and solving concerns that arise within and beyond the lived experiences of students.
