The Romantic View of American Music From a Distance
All of the music being made in California at that time seemed to be influenced by what was going on in England. We were amazed in England that we would take American songs and sing them with a kind of a British accent and sell them back to the Americans. That was weird to us, but it's what we did. But yeah, the Holies did have a certain sound that was different than American bands. Well, we'd all learned from Schiffel. We started out in dance halls and we wanted to make music that people could dance to and we want to make them think too.
