Do You Suspect a Toxic Alcohol Ingestion?

When we see a patient that comes in altered we should really be thinking about three things. One is, if they're tecipnic, we should wonder about a metabolic acidosis. Two is if they have any visual changes. And of course, it's a slim dunk if they describe it as a snowstorm. Thirdly, if the inebriated patient comes in and they're not sobering up as you would normally expect, that should trig you to think that there's something else going on.
