The Importance of Silence

I think there can certainly be forms of ethical and political action that are silent, but I think those would constitute silence as a form of discourse. And the reason I say that is I'm thinking a little bit about Kierkegaard here on the notion of faith. For Kierkegaard, the highest expression of faith is embodied in the image of a solitary subject in the presence of God with nothing else around. With that we can go forth and be silent.
