Web2 Platforms - Why Web2 Goes So Wrong?

Web2 for all of the rhetoric around empowering creators and removing intermediaries, like that was not baked in to the design of web2 by any means. These companies operate still to this day under this mandate of driving shareholder returns and maximizing profits. There is no mandate of being fair or just or expanding access to opportunities. Those things might happen, only in so far as they serve to maximize profits.
