Mainstream US media would have you believe that this is all the fault of Assad for being a brutal and corrupt dictator who deserves to be overthrown. They hope if you focus on Assad, you'll be too distracted to notice the US and its proxies are occupying vast swaths of Syria. And they think pointing the finger at Russia will cover for the destruction wrought by the most important weapon in America's arsenal - sanctions.
