For my dog, creating is the most restrictive. So I will do a lie down stay eat cookies until the thing goes away because the thing going away and his arousal is lowering. He now associates the down stay with being calm. And so it makes him more settled to see it kind of depends what comes next in the chain. That emotion will bleed backwards into the current event. Make conditioned as a calm place, but what if you create your dog in an overrout state? Say when people come over, can you change the conditioning of the crate to calm?
