Introduction

In the next couple of episodes in this series, a'll be arguing that discriminatory cultural hierarchies like racism and patriarchy exist specifically for the purposes of economic exploitation. What this means is that the whole idea of addressing cultural inequalities without addressing economic inequalities barely even makes sense. In episode seven, i talked about immediate return hunting and gathering societies who are extremely a galetarian - meaning men and women have relatively equal political power. And we saw that most of these societies have farmer and pastoralist neighbors who have a strong degree of male domination and patriarchy.
