"I wanted to write brothers to a very, very close. So putting two brothers on the page who are close and introducing conflict because you know without conflict there's no story it's just boring," she said. "They're both raised in the same environment, but they weren't necessarily treated the same." She also has some alternating points of view between Cory and Tessa as well as an outlaw character that is revealed later.
