There are other competing strategies for versioning APIs. Rest is an acronym that stands for representation, representational state transfer. The idea of rest is wouldn't that be the right way to go about evolvability between machines? And then if you're servicing a big application with lots and lots of different routes, sometimes that's often the way to go.
