The Interplay Between Basic Research and Applications

There is this idea in the economics of innovation that you have basic research that fits into applied research and then from the applied we get into in applications. But sometimes it's the case that applied research or tools for engineering is necessary to the basic research. So, so, so for example, it could be that two more basic research. You need, let's say, new data sets, new and new tools to actually go back in a loop to do thebasic research. It's like the conspiracy theories like to say everything is connected. There's a ton of interplay. We need we need randomization. We need foundations to allocate money and yellow instead of doing one thing rather than another
