How to Memorize a Jaz Standard
"My big goal coming in here is to get out of that. And one thing that i'm just always saying is, memorize," he says. "Even if you are learning a melody from a piece of sheep music, or the chords from a Piece of Sheep Music by reading it,. If you're memorizing it, you're at least getting those benefits of internalizing that language." 'If you learn one jaz standard, you're going to learn a lot about harmony,' he adds.'You're going to hear cord changes better, you'll recognize certain cor progressions and movements, and i'll really help.'
