Is NLP Insufficiently Grounded?
Some of the problems you see with today's models that reveal that they're insufficiently grounded yeah. I think there are two main things missing in our current paradigm one is multi-modal understanding of concepts and the other is intentionality with the T of language. We use language with an intent to change the mental state of whoever we're talking to right so I'm using my voice now to change your brain essentially yep. That intent is crucial for real meaning and real understanding and it's something that doesn't exist in language models do you know what I mean?
