Advancements in Measuring Social Vulnerability and Mental Health

This chapter introduces the Social Vulnerability Metric (SVM), highlighting its innovative approach to quantifying social vulnerability through multidimensional item response theory. It also presents findings from a pilot study analyzing data from over 20,000 households to evaluate the impact of serious mental illness, particularly during the challenges posed by the COVID pandemic.
