Shapiro's Fake Antiquities
Booni Rubin: The craze about finding archaeological proof of the Bible began. Shapiro had seen the Moabite letters on the Meishasthili. He created a new culture which called Mobitika. In 1873, he convinced the archaeological museum in Berlin to buy 1,700 pieces from his collection. Once the Clermont-Ganon forgery was discovered, it became sort of a laughingstock.
