The Right Left Metaphor for Linguistic Research
Linguists use a right left metaphor when discussing things like syntactic movement or branching structure influenced of course by the fact that linguistic research is often up in languages that are written from left to right. So, I'd say pay attention to these odd technical terms when you come across them as they're really good for generating ideas for metaphors for other technical terms. And so watching this sewing show I ran into lots of instructions telling viewers to do something to the wrong side of the fabric. Now if you're into sewing you already know you're probably coughing at me knowing well this is obvious but not being into sewing I still knew this is obviously not what I would expect of wrong side to me.
