I Am the True Vine

In John 15, Jesus tells his disciples that he is the vine and they are the branches. He says this in his final moments before going to the cross. The vertical part of the plant is actually what's rooted in the dirt. And then what comes off of that horizontally are the branches - with fruit on them.
