The Role of Law in Abortion
Having a law against drunk driving may not stop people from getting drunk, but I certainly feel better having a teenager out on the road knowing that drunk driving is illegal. Having a law that prevents people from tearing down widow's houses and moving their landmarks does not prevent people from hating widows. But it protects that widow from being harmed. And James says to the churches in the dispersion in James 5, God has heard the Christ of your workers in the fields that you're mistreating. Well, that doesn't necessarily stop the personal private sin of a landowner hating his workers, but it can prevent damage being done to those workers themselves.
