The Technological Plateau
After a burst of military innovation in World War II, the pace of new ideas in weapons technologies seemed to slow down. Some circles thought that nuclear warfare reached a point that no further advance could break the stalemate between the United States and the Soviet Union. They whispered of a technological plateau.
