A machine learning program was able to find private medical records on the internet. The tool uses images and words that have been associated with each other in order to create a picture of an ice cream cone. It's not clear how many photos are being used for this kind of training, but it could be millions or even hundreds of million. This is just one example of what can happen when people use web scraping techniques to get at data sets like these.
