The Effects of Widowhood on Cognitive Function

While Alzheimer's severely affects a person's episodic memory, their muscle memory typically remains relatively intact. Sandeep could see how difficult and how different diseases of the brain could be because at the same time as his father's mind was failing him due to Alzheimer's, his mother was struggling with Parkinson's. After she died, he kind of lost a lot of friendships. I think he was very lonely. We know that loneliness affects the brain. And we know that widowhood actually has tremendous effects on the brain and can worsen dementia.
