What Are Coffin Roads?

So-called coffin roads, largely featured in the landscape with the Highlands and Islands. They were used to take the dead back to the place where they had originated from. It would often be a matter of 50, 70 miles,. actually, to carry someone back to the nearest graveyards sometimes. Even folk who died miles and miles away wanted to go back home.
