CHAPTER

The Relationship Between Science and Faith

There's a great spat in 13th century Paris when Aristotle is being introduced into the bloodstream of Europe and the bishop of Paris doesn't like this. What really matters is who has the right to adjudicate, to say, or authoritatively, who or what is a human. I think anybody with any intellectual honesty would say that science cannot adjudicate on the existence of God. But more important than that, are we the kind of creatures that are envisaged in the great religions, in the Christian salvation story? Because if we're not, then the whole story doesn't make any sense.
