Liz Truss was in office but not in power, it was absolutely humiliating. The proximate cause for her going unfolded late on Wednesday with a couple of events. One was the resignation or forced resignation of her home secretary Sorela Braverman. And the other was an incredibly chaotic scene in Parliament where the government had called a vote about fracking. There were these very, very chaotic scenes of MPs being jostled through the lobbies to vote with the government. I saw members being physically manhandled into another lobby and being bullied.
