Is There a Coherent Narrative?
There's a literary technique known as matonomy. Matonomy is the juxtposit of two things beside one another, with the implication that they are causaly related in some important manner to each other. So imagine the stories evolved somewhat independently, and then they were organized so that they produced what approximated a coherent narrative. Is not entirely coherent, because there are paradoxical claims, say, at the level of the sentence. And you know, people who insist upon the literal truth of the bible, whatever that means is, turn themselves into knots trying to iron them out. You don't want to focus on one level of analysis at the exclusion of all the other levels of analysis....
