I cry personally, once or twice every day that I am on intensive care. It is because I can't talk to my patients. My patients are sedated. They are uneventful. So how do I make sure that they are not just slabs of meat lying on a bed? I have to humanize them somehow. Once you humanize people, you develop an emotional connection with them. The only people you remember are the ones where you've spoken to the family seven times. That takes a huge amount of emotional energy. But yeah, sometimes you come, you reach your limit. And which is why, as he said, I am currently off work.
