With anxiety, this is where the trouble can start. The work is actually in understanding the stimulus and understanding how I respond. And then in asking myself, is this the way that I want to respond? This is the best way to respond. My deepest wish for all of us, especially those of us anxious achievers who just do it reflexively because it's all we know how to do, is to just breathe,. notice, and say, is this really how I want to response?
