What Happened in the First Accident?

Gossip about the death of Danley Whitney leaked out to a local newspaper. The Whitneys were suspicious that their son had been killed in a car accident. But when Pastor dug porter delivered a religious eulogy at frank's funeral, they became even more suspicious. They felt guilt for not having said something before it was too late. And then Mr Whitney himself called them and asked if he could conduct his own funeral. He did so with great ceremony - but no one believed him.
