The Emotional Stage of Empathy

The essence of empathy is an accurate connection between two people where one person really understands the other accurately. But there's a lot of misunderstanding of people's feelings, intentions, goals,. So we saw it as three different stages. This first stage which we call emotional is literally sensing what someone's feeling but you don't necessarily understand it. The real challenges happen in the cognitive stage called perspective taking. And this is where you actually understand why someone is feeling a certain way. We're starting to launch into organizations that are essentially like paying attention and trying to help others.
