The Importance of Operating in Your Niche

In traditional publishing, a better way of saying it is you just printed too many. But certainly, when we step out of our niche, that can be a failure. Or when we will have a loyal readership and a loyal base like many independent authors will have. I think expecting them to buy books that aren't the sort of thing we publish is not a good tactic. We learn that people like local guidebooks, they don't like national guidebooks,. That's again, the bigger publishers can be better at that. It's much easier to grow your brand when you're known for a certain thing.
