Heat Pumps - What's the Business Model?

In the IEA's recent low carbon technology report, heat pumps was one of the places they saw a shortfall. We just might not have enough to deploy that technology fast enough to have it fully realized decarbonization benefits. Most HVAC contractors don't put heat pumps in. They put in gas heaters. And gas heaters use three or four times as much energy to produce a unit of warmth as heat pumps do. So it's the business model. It's the vocational training. One great thing about this clean energy revolution is that it's going to create literally millions of high quality, well paid blue color jobs.
