The Ancient Greeks Are All Children

In Plato's Tameus, Solon Solon talks with Egyptian priests about ancient history. One of them says that the Greeks are always children and there is no such thing as an old Greek. The passage has serious import for the history of Western esotericism. But does it represent mainstream Greek view of relations to their more ancient civilized neighbors?
