Leshan provides user centered design recommendation and technical guidance during Orion hardware and software design reviews. Her current research focuses on astronaut situational awareness, where she is actively working on a critical issue with regards to the latency between an astronaut's input and subsequent action on the display. She now ensures that systems for the crew module, including display units and even the hygiene bay also known as the toilet are designed with comfort in mind for astronauts who will use them.
