The Refreshment of MLB's New Rules Changes
In 1996, the lower limit of the strike zone dropped from the top of the batter's knee to the hollow beneath the kneecap. The average time of game was 2 hours, 54 minutes in that year. Ollie: It seems sort of set up to fail or at least not to have any particular effect. But I'd slow rule that just because as Bill James has often said, like changing something in the strike zone, it's like an inch there.
