I just think that if you are going to have troubles in your relationship for whatever reason, then you are more likely to end up reporting being in the middle. It happens when there's an asymmetry. One person really wants to be poly. The other person doesn't. So they landed in the middle as a compromise. There's also, I think cultural stuff like being poly is just hard in this culture. Like we don't have the same resources that monogamous people do because all of your movies, TV, every depiction of relationships comes from the monogamous frame. Poly people don't, you have to invite your ship from scratch.
