Is There a Right to Parody?
If I was to ask the chatbot to write me a song in the style of radiohead, like, who owns that then? Is it me? Or if I was to say, to give a different example, write me a story like The Dead from James Joyce's Dubliners, and I give it some basic parameters and some plot outlines, and then it generates a story. It is pretty clear in current law that a style is not something that somebody holds. There are laws about the rights of parody, and I suppose these actually come into play for the first time. And you could really see how a huge amount of that stuff could just be generated by a machine.
