The Moral Hazards of Isolation

Gathering has two problems. One of them is it pulled members away from other communities where the church could have built up. Europe is a prime example, where if the members had been allowed to stay in Europe or encouraged to stay there, the church would be stronger than it is. When missionaries go out and do this highly concentrated hero's journey, sort of, you know, adult initiation thing, which I find valuable in some ways. There's a very low commitment to high quality con conversion.
