The question of mortality and elf resentment is going to be a big part of the Numenor story. The fact that elves get to go to paradise is one gift but the gift of mortality to man, they were a favored race of a Louvatar who loved men. And so he considered mortality this idea that things are impermanent and finite, a gift. When they die, they get to escape this world. Like Valinor is nice but imagine just not having to be on earth at all.
