Crap is like shit, but less offensive, and a bit weaker. The name of the man who invented the toilet? Thomas Crapa. So it sort of implies weak and bad. Just bad. If someone said, what's he like in bed? Oh, pretty crap. It doesn't mean literally shitting yourself. It just means you're really scared. Or I was shitting myself. That's used quite often.
