Are We Going to Have an Inflation Squeeze?
Philip Lowe has sounded fairly confident that interest rate rises are going to get our economy back to normal. Many households now have built up what he calls a quite large financial buffer. The squeeze will be felt more intensely by those who bought a property to live in compared with those who bought one as an investment, because the latter group can take advantage of negative gearing. It sounds like housing is going to be where this will really hurt people here in Australia.
