Humans are only really nearly independent at probably year 8 and there's some debate over that. The brain has gotten so big that it would no longer be able to allow a normal birth to take place. We know that we have an inadequate theory of how the brain operates, where memory is stored and how it works. What happens with AI is it becomes a archival and memory system for humanity.
