A lot of our faults in decision making, and i would even say as humanity as a whole, not just engineering, comes from the fact that were ing to understand complex, distributed systems in simplistic, causal or correlated type situations. We don't have the bandwit to do so. I think we need more prose at the top jobs in these organizations,. particuarly for reasons that a hoster mentioned here on the podcast. In particular, we need to look at engineering as well as other fields such as computer science with an optimistic view on the world.
In an episode dedicated to what we think the next generation of engineering leaders should avoid, Jason and Eiso talk about the books every engineering leader reads, the over-glorification of 80’s maniacal leaders, OKRs, and other tech industry things we love to hate.
Come for the roast. Stay for the solutions!
