The Importance of Preparing for Emergencies
Why do you think so few people are interested in anticipating the emergencies on the horizon rather than coping with them once they've arrived? Well, I think it's very much to do with the kind of people who have intervened in the crisis of other people. The problem is that most of the people who are givers have absolutely no idea what it's like to be a receiver. So we look almost as receivers, takers as a different species. We don't actually see them as a part of the human race, a subspecies in that way. There is a real intellectual need for redesigning thinking.
