Sholtz could have done the strip peanuts for ten years, or 20 or 30 and then moved on. Instead, he wrote it until the end. There's power in that, power in the devotion to creativity. At other times he's best known for peanuts, for good or for ill. Maybe i also know him as someone who's best known, not for being best known, but for being only known. And all things considered, was one hell of a good thing to be known for.
