The larger the sample size of hands that we play, the more likely we are to experience a very large downswing. Not every moment at the table is going to be 100% enjoyable. We need to be very careful when thinking about things such as bankroll management. If you've only played 150,000 hands in your lifetime, it's not that likely that you've been on a 20 or 30 buying downswing if you are a winning player. But if you've played a million hands, it's much more likely.If you've played five million hands, you've probably been on several.
