The Importance of Exchange Value
In Marx's world of exchange, 'everything is in principle exchangeable with everything else', he says. Exchange value cannot be anything other than the mode of expression and form of content distinguishable from it. He can't dissect a commodity to find out what makes it exchangeable just by looking at the commodity. This is where we start to get in motion, in movement. And as it moves, it's obviously expressing something about exchangeability,. It means that all things are commensurable in exchange.
