Nelson's All-or-Nothing Attitude
For a man who loved the Royal Navy, he had a remarkable number of enemies within the institution. He identified his objective and pursued it relentlessly, often without regard to risk. I think Nelson's insatiable appetite for glory comes from this impulse as well. It is perhaps good for his reputation that he died young, because, if he had survived, he might have tarnished his legacy after retirement.
