The Importance of Artistic Choices

I think it was a kind of reaction to the excess of abstract expressionism and also an argument that anything could be art if you just looked at it in the right way. So you didn't need this wild canvas and gestural brushstrokes. Instead, you could just have a piece of aluminum. And if that was the subject of enough artistic choices, then that was just as valid as one of these paintings.
